Dear Saint Charles Borromeo Parish Community,
The Parish Finance Committee would like to relay to everyone the financial condition of the Church and School. While it has been a tumultuous two years with all the complexities created by the pandemic, we can report that we are holding our own. However, you can see in the next page the financial report that the Sunday collections and other church income has declined significantly over the past two years. Much of this decrease is related to a reduction in “in person” Mass participation, but even with the lifting of attendance restrictions, more help is needed to address this shortfall. We have decided to employ the services of a company to help with an Increased Offertory Campaign. You will hear and see more information about this program in the coming weeks. Thank you in advance for your attention and consideration to participate.
We were successful, through the hard work of our office staff, in garnering help from two Payroll Protection Plan (PPP) government loan programs. A large portion of these loans have already been forgiven and we are hopeful that the balance will be forgiven as well. These funds were instrumental in enabling us to sustain operations and retain our administrative and academic staff. You can see in the attached report that the application of a portion of these funds negated the necessity for the school to be subsidized by the Church income for the first time in many years. As reported previously, it has been necessary for many years that the school be subsidized substantially from the Church funds and donations. Reducing or eliminating the need for this subsidy has been one of the primary goals of the Finance Committee and all those who work to reduce expenses and increase enrollment and other school functions that generate revenues. Even without these funds, we have made significant progress in this regard over the last four years. We are also pleased to report that the enrollment has been maintained and even grown slightly over this period reversing the previous declining trend. Through the efforts of our principal Sister Koreen and her dedicated faculty and administrators, the Saint Charles Borromeo School continued operating uninterrupted throughout the pandemic, delivering superior education and a full curriculum to the entire student body.
We are currently running a capital campaign to help pay for the school roof which was installed this past June at a cost of approximately $75,500. Thank you to everyone who has already contributed to the Roof Replacement Fund. To those who have not, if you can find it in your budget to help, it would be much appreciated. Maintaining a fiscally healthy and educationally superior school at Saint Charles Borromeo is of the upmost importance to us all.
Thanks to the diligence and tireless efforts of Father Forlano, Saint Charles Borromeo continued to provide on- line, as well as in person Mass, spiritual support, and all the other Sacraments over the course of this entire pandemic. Establishing on-line Masses and addressing all the spiritual needs of the parish remains Father Forlano’s sacred commitment.
We are most grateful for your past and continued support, especially during these trying times. For those that have been unable to attend Mass and wish perhaps to “catch up” with their donations, there is a convenient on-line option on the the St. Charles Borromeo website. Any support to help alleviate this budget deficit in our collections is something for which would be most grateful.
Father Forlano and the members of Finance Committee are committed to being transparent with all of the Church and School finances. Querida Comunidad de la Parroquia San Carlos Borromeo,
El Comité Parroquial de Finanzas informa por este medio a todos sobre la situación financiera de la Iglesia y la Escuela. Si bien han sido dos años tumultuosos, podemos informar que hemos sobrellevado todas las complejidades creadas por la pandemia. Sin embargo, como puede ver en el informe financiero, expueto en la siguiente página, las colectas dominicales y otros ingresos de la iglesia han disminuido significativamente en los últimos dos años. Gran parte de esta disminución está relacionada con una reducción en la participación en la misa "en persona", pero incluso con el levantamiento de las restricciones de asistencia, se necesita más ayuda para abordar este déficit. Hemos decidido emplear los servicios de una empresa para ayudar con una Campaña de Ofertorio Incrementado. Escuchará y verá más información sobre este programa en las próximas semanas. Gracias de antemano por su atención y consideración para participar.
Gracias al arduo trabajo de nuestro personal de oficina, logramos la ayuda de dos programas de préstamos gubernamentales del Plan de Protección de Nómina (PPP). Una gran parte de estos préstamos ya ha sido condonada y tenemos la esperanza de que también se condone el saldo. Estos fondos fueron fundamentales para permitirnos mantener las operaciones y retener a nuestro personal administrativo y académico. Puede ver en el informe detallado en la siguiente página, que la aplicación de una parte de estos fondos anuló la necesidad de que la escuela fuera subsidiada por los ingresos de la Iglesia por primera vez en muchos años. Como se informó anteriormente, durante muchos años ha sido necesario que la escuela reciba un subsidio sustancial de los fondos y donaciones de la Iglesia. Reducir o eliminar la necesidad de este subsidio ha sido uno de los principales objetivos del Comité de Finanzas y de todos aquellos que trabajan para reducir gastos y aumentar la matrícula y otras funciones escolares que generan ingresos. Incluso sin estos fondos, hemos logrado avances significativos en este sentido durante los últimos cuatro años. También nos complace informar que la matrícula se ha mantenido e incluso ha crecido ligeramente durante este período, revirtiendo la tendencia descendente anterior. A través de los esfuerzos de nuestra directora, la Hermana Koreen y sus dedicados maestros y administradores, la Escuela San Carlos Borromeo continuó operando ininterrumpidamente durante la pandemia, brindando educación superior y un plan de estudios completo para todo el cuerpo estudiantil.
Actualmente estamos llevando a cabo una campaña de recaudación de dinero para ayudar a pagar el techo de la escuela que se instaló en junio pasado a un costo de aproximadamente $ 75,500. Gracias a todos los que ya han contribuido al Fondo de Reemplazo del Techo. Para aquellos que no lo han hecho, si puede encontrar un espacio en su presupuesto para ayudar, éste sería muy apreciado. Mantener una escuela fiscalmente saludable y educativamente superior en San Carlos Borromeo es de suma importancia para todos nosotros.
Gracias a la diligencia e incansable esfuerzo del Padre Forlano, San Carlos Borromeo continuó brindando Misa en línea, así como en persona, apoyo espiritual y todos los demás sacramentos durante el transcurso de toda esta pandemia. Establecer misas en línea y atender todas las necesidades espirituales de la parroquia sigue siendo el compromiso sagrado del Padre Forlano.
Estamos muy agradecidos por el continuo apoyo brindado, especialmente durante estos tiempos difíciles. Para aquellos que no han podido asistir a misa y desean quizás "ponerse al día" con sus donaciones, hay una opción conveniente en línea en el sitio web de San Carlos Borromeo.
