Morning Prayer

St. Charles will celebrate communal Morning Prayer Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of Holy Week at 8:00 a.m. (April 6 - 8) in the main church. We will pray together Morning Prayer from the “Liturgy of the Hours”, the daily prayers offered throughout the universal Church. The Church does not celebrate morning Mass these days during the Sacred Triduum but encourages the faithful to gather in prayer to prepare for Easter. On Holy Thursday morning, the priests of the Archdiocese will gather with the Archbishop at the Cathedral to celebrate the “Chrism” Mass and renew their priestly promises. The absence of Mass on Good Friday and Holy Saturday reminds us of Jesus’ arrest, death, and burial - a time when the Lord was “taken away”. The “fasting” from the celebration of the sacraments helps us to celebrate with ever greater joy and anticipation the gift of the Resurrection and the Easter mysteries offered in the sacraments of the Church.
